Mental math fundamentals and strategic betting games
Source confidence: Candidate reports + third-party guides · Last reviewed: 7 Sept 2026. Exact process varies by role, office, and year.
Akuna Capital is an options market maker. For junior and graduate trading roles, candidate reports describe timed arithmetic and sequence assessments whose format has changed across offices and years. A Sydney candidate reported 7 minutes of arithmetic plus 15 minutes of sequences, while a newer third-party synthesis describes an 80-question, 8-minute arithmetic section followed by a 12-minute sequence test. Reports also describe a VidCruiter probability or betting game, recorded behavioral questions, and trader-led technical interviews. Quant Trading applicants may receive a separate Python or C++ coding challenge.
Interview Rounds
Interview processes vary by role, office, seniority, and year. We separate official company information from candidate reports and third-party guides.
Round 1:Timed math and sequences assessment
A Sydney candidate reported a 22-minute combined assessment. A newer third-party guide describes an 8-minute arithmetic plus 12-minute sequences format. Treat the format in your invitation as authoritative.
Round 2:Quant Trading coding challenge
Historical official guidance and candidate reports describe a Python or C++ coding challenge for Quant Trading applicants. Platform, problem count, and duration vary.
Round 3:VidCruiter game and recorded questions
Trading candidates report probability or betting decisions and recorded behavioral questions. Reports disagree on whether these are one combined stage or separate components.
Round 4:Trader technical and final interviews
Candidates report probability, market-making, risk, and basic derivatives discussions followed by role-dependent final interviews.
